So I finally got into the subbing system in Des Moines... I haven't been getting calls every day, so that is kind of a bummer. But I still have had some work, which is better than nothing. And you know, I don't really need THAT much money to get by. I just like to keep busy. But anyway, I like it so far and it has been a good chance for me to get to know some of the schools that are around here, which is nice. Behavior is not always the greatest (come on, we all know that everyone likes to goof off on days that the teacher is gone), but I've met some really great kids too, and that balances it all out :)
I applied for a naturalist position with Story County Conservation... for those of you who don't know, a "naturalist" is basically an environmental educator who travels to different schools and hosts events to teach kids (and sometimes adults) about nature... if you know me, you know this would be a perfect job for me... so we'll see how it goes! The job posting is still open for a while, so I probably won't hear anything back for a couple of weeks.
